HP Pavilion Gaming Desktop PC TG01-1000a (2W847AV)
Microsoft Windows 11

Hello there.

I own an HP Pavilion Gaming Desktop TG01-1810no PC.

I wish to upgrade the following:

- GPU: I want to replace the current GTX 1650 with a more powerful GPU. However, most graphic cards needs much power, which the current 310 watt PSU cannot deliver. If possible, I wish to not replace my PSU, but if needed I don't mind to. What graphic cards do you recommend me that doesn't force me to change my PSU?

- RAM: From 8gb to 32gb.

- Storage: An additional 2tb nvme m.2 hard drive.

I need some help with guidance so I don't mess up my PC. Thanks in advance!

@Kfte,

When you reread my previous post, an RTX 3050 requires a 400-watt power supply equipped with an 8-pin PCIe power cable.

Your PC can be fitted with up to 2x32GB of DDR4 PC4-25600, 3200 MHz, Non-ECC, Unbuffered, DIMM (UDIMM), 288-pin RAM sticks. However, you likely wouldn't need that much RAM. I would suggest a matching 2x16GB RAM kit, such as this quality/affordable dual rank (2Rx8) purchase option via Amazon-Sweden: Timetec 32GB (2x16GB) DDR4 3200 MHz PC4-25600 CL16 1,35V ingen ECC, ingen buffring Designad för spel....

Assuming your HP Pavilion Gaming Desktop PC TG01-1000a is fitted with an Erica3 motherboard (SSID: 87D6) -please verify, it is fitted with one M.2 NVMe SSD slot, which should be your primary (boot) drive -see the blue square below. I would pick a quality M.2 NVMe SSD, at least 1TB, such as one of these three purchase options via Amazon-Sweden:

Samsung 980 1 TB PCIe 3.0 (up to 3.500 MB/s) NVMe M.2 Internal Solid State Drive (SSD) (MZ-V8V1T0BW)...

https://www.amazon.se/Crucial-Plus-PCIe-Gen4-NVMe/dp/B0BYWB6237/ref=sr_1_5?crid=3CILDQ0CZ4NA5&dib=ey...

Your motherboard has three SATA ports, use "SATA0" (the green circle) as your secondary SSD drive, such as this option, and if you are so inclined, the other two SATA ports (see red circle) can also be used for storage drives:

@Kfte,

Welcome to our HP community forum!

If you don't want to upgrade your power supply, then the best graphics card that your 310-watt power supply (p/n: L64961-800 or L89232-001) is capable to power would be the (115-watt TDP) RTX 4060, such as this smaller-sized (two-fan) model -that is, if your power supply got a 6+2-pin PCIe power supply cable, which I believe it does:

PLEASE verify.

If your 310-watt power supply does not have a PCIe power cable, then an RTX A2000 graphics card is among the best you could choose.

However, you could choose to upgrade your power supply, such as a 400-watt power supply with p/n: L69242-800 (equipped with one 8-pin PCIe power cable) which is able to power cards such as an RTX 3050, GTX 1660 Ti, or an RTX 4060, or a 500-watt power supply, with p/n: L05757-800 (equipped with one 6-pin and one 6-pin PCIe power cables) which can power cards such as the GTX 1080, RTX 3060, RTX 4060 Ti, RTX 2060 Super, and an RTX 2070.

Whatever graphics card you choose, pick a smaller-sized (two fan) model.

Hope this was helpful.

Thank you so much. Since my PSU doesn't have 6+2-pin PCIe power supply cable, I'll go for either your suggested rtx a2000 or rtx 3050 6gb. However I am still wondering regarding upgrading the RAM and storage. What is the maximum amount of RAM I can upgrade to, and what RAM do you suggest? And if I want an additional 2tb of fast hard drive, what is compatible with my PC? Thanks in advance!
