HP Slimline Desktop - 410-009 (ENERGY STAR)

I want to add an SSD hard drive to my HP desktop. It’s an older one and I wanna find out besides the bracketing are there any issues with the  biOS, motherboard, or form factor of an M2 Samsung SSD drive 1 tb

a M.2 connector is just that a connector

what counts is how said M.2 connecter is wired up

the connector is commonly used for SSD's /wireless cards

and M.2 WiFi cards can be miniPCI or USB based

so again you need to know how the motherboard maker wired up the M.2 connector

for storage devices, you need to know if the M.2 is wired up as SATA or NVME ,

(also only newer systems support booting from nvme)

SATA based SSD's  will work on any computer that has a free sata port

for 2.5 in sata ssd's you need a sata cable and a sata power connector and a place to put the sata drive

for a m.2 wired sata connector mounted on the motherboard you simply need the sata drive in the proper length

(most boards support 2240 / 2260 / 2280) if the M.2 is wired up for NVME, then you must use a nvme SSD

for a add-in pci-e SATA M.2 card you will need a  free slot, cards are available in x1 and x4 data link you will also need a sata data cable and a free sata port on the motherboard

@Hami812,

Welcome to our HP User Forum!

Your HP Slimline 410-009 Desktop PC (N0A60AA), fitted with a Pegatron (HP/Compaq name: Shave-HSW with SSID: 2B5B), is 24-pin ATX-power enabled, meaning you could swap out your stock 180-watt power supply with any ATX power supply provided you check for fit (LxWXH), which would open the door to upgrade (or install) a low profile discrete graphics card -but I digress.

Looking here amongst User desktops benchmarks all fitted with the SSID 2B5B motherboard:

https://www.userbenchmark.com/System/HP-410-010/22110

https://www.userbenchmark.com/System/HP-410-019/39805

I see none that are fitted with an M.2 NVMe SSD, so the answer to your question is that an M.2 NVMe SSD most likely is not compatible with your desktop.

If upgrading your desktop is on your mind, your desktop is compatible with 4th gen Intel processors up to 54 watt, such as an i7-4770T up to an i7-4790T (TDPs = 45 watt).

Kind Regards,

Upgrading and Servicing Guide

nothing in the manual here, in order to install an m2 SSD!
check, the slot used, is probably the wifi card, error on the naming of the card or the port
so either a mini slot for wifi, or it's m2 wifi

so the only option would be to install a sata 2.5 ssd
