My HP Elitedesk 800 SFF (G1) suffered a hardware failure. I ordered a used HP EliteDesk 800 G1 Mini Desktop Intel i5 4th Gen from the auctions site that doesn't have a hard drive.  Can I take my fairly new SSD out of the failed computer and it will fit right into the min desktop?   I know how to install my LInux on it via a usb thumb drive.

Hi, Michael.

Yes, a 2.5" SATA SSD will fit just fine.

The PC also has a M.2 slot that supports a M.2 SATA SSD, I believe.

The specs in that document I posted indicate PCIe, which is NVMe but the drive part number indicates the M.2 SSD is SATA.

I hope the seller left the mounting hardware/cables for the 2.5" drive though.

Thank you - I couldn't even remember what size the SSD is I bought - but I'm glad it's 2.5" and the mini I bought takes 2.5"

Marking this as solved.
