HP EliteDesk 705 G4 Small Form Factor PC

Hello,

I have an HP EliteDesk 705 G4 SFF with a Ryzen 3 2200G processor. I’m wondering if HP has applied any TDP limitations on this CPU in this system.

Does it run at the full 65W TDP, or is it restricted to a lower power limit due to thermal or power constraints? If anyone has checked using monitoring tools or BIOS settings, I’d appreciate any insights.

Thanks

@moe009,

Welcome to our HP Community forum!

Looking here amongst HP EliteDesk 705 G4 SFF users: https://www.userbenchmark.com/System/HP-EliteDesk-705-G4-SFF/101201, it shows that there at least three different motherboards found in the aforementioned PC.

HP Motherboard with SSID: 8462 is compatible with the Ryzen 7 PRO 2700

HP Motherboard with SSID: 83E8 is compatible with the Ryzen 5 PRO 2400G and Ryzen 3 PRO 2200G

HP Motherboard with SSID: 8463 is compatible with the A10-9700 R7, A8-9600 R7 and A6-9500 R5.

You can verify your motherboard's SSID by typing in system information in your lower search bar, then by clicking on the System Information app, and by looking to the right of "BaseBoard Product".

Point being, this would suggest that if you got the "83E8" motherboard, the best compatible processor for your PC would be the Ryzen 5 PRO 2400G. As to your question if your motherboard is power restricted, the answer id likely yes, as well as processor restricted.

Kind Regards,
