HP Pavilion 590-p0076

On the spec page below, the picture indicates there are 2 DDR4 DIMM sockets.

https://support.hp.com/us-en/document/c05939208

Then in the Memory upgrade information section, it states that:

- Supports 4 GB and 8 GB DDR4 UDIMMs

- Supports up to 32 GB (unbuffered) on 64-bit computers

If the second statement is true, does that mean each socket supports a 16 GB module?

@Bill_To,

Yes, we can answer @yuipcheng's question.

For your information, here are some additional non-HP reference links which show that fitting 2 x 16GB RAM is indeed compatible with @yuipcheng's PC: https://www.crucial.com/compatible-upgrade-for/hp---compaq/pavilion-590-p0076#memory, and last but not least: an actual HP Pavilion Desktop 590-p0xxx User with a Sunflower motherboard (SSID: 8433) : HP Pavilion Desktop 590-p0xxx Performance Results - UserBenchmark:

Hi

Good point.

Looks like the HP site link in your question has a memory configuration issue.

I don't think anyone in this Forum can answer your question without trying 16 GB DIMMS in the memory sockets.

@yuipcheng,

Welcome to our HP User Forum!

That is correct: your desktop can be fitted with up to 2 x 16GB of DDR4 PC4-19200, 2400 MHz, Non-ECC, Unbuffered, UDIMM, 288-pin RAM sticks.  You could install DDR4 PC4-21300 (2666 MHz) or DDR4 PC4-25600 (3200 MHz) RAM sticks, but your motherboard may down-throttle the RAM speed to 2400 MHz.

[EDIT:] Interesting.  Found several Sunflower (SSID: 8433) platforms which are apparently able to run 2666 MHz RAM.  This means that if you want to upgrade your memory to 2 x 16GB, my recommendation is to purchase at least the DDR4 PC4-21300 (2666 MHz) RAM option.

Hope this was helpful.

Kind Regards,
