Does my hp 15s-eq2317au 8 gb ram upgradable? When I bought my laptop the reseller says that it's 16 gb of ram but when I search the unit it  says it's only 8 gb of ram

Yes, you should be able to install up to 2 x 16 GB of DDR4-3200 MHz memory in your notebook:

HP - Compaq HP 15s-eq2XXX (Ryzen) | Memory RAM & SSD Upgrades | Crucial.com

Below is the link to the service manual for the original 15s-eq0xxx model series which as the memory removal and replacement procedure:

Maintenance and Service Guide HP 15 Laptop PC

HP also indicates the notebook was supposed to come with 2 x 8 GB of memory:

HP Laptop 15s-eq2017AU Product Specifications | HP® Support (bingj.com)

But the parts list only shows one 8 GB memory chip.

HP PartSurfer

Normally, the parts list would have listed two of them if the notebook was supposed to come with 2 x 8 GB of memory.

Hopefully, the specs are incorrect and not that your notebook has a defective memory socket.
