Microsoft Windows 10 (32-bit)

My dc7900 E8400 has a core2 duo @ 3Ghz, a 64bit processor. I'm only able to get 32bit windows. I have 4gig of ram,  DDR2 two 1g 1Rx8 PC2-6400U,

one 2g 2Rx8 PC2-6400U. If I changed the ram to all 1Rx16.... Would that make it run 64bit? Thanks for your time.

The amount of Ram does not determine the OS ability to be 32 or 64 bit.  However, with only 4GB of ram it makes very little difference in the performance.  Considering that hardware is so out of date and unless you have a specific need for that platform, I would not spend the needed amount of funds to put in more ram.  It should be able to run 64bit OS, BTW.

Here is a thread where @Paul_Tikkanen states he has a dc7900 SFF running Windows 10 64bit.

I'm not an HP employee.

Hi, @Liamjax_1

All you need to do is to clean install W10 x64 using the media creation tool at the link below for memory>than 4 GB to be recognized.

You can make a 64 bit USB installer, or save an ISO file that you can transfer to a DVD.

I have zipped up and attached below, the Microsoft utility that will transfer the ISO file to a DVD so that it is bootable.

https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/software-download/windows10

With a clean install you will need to reinstall any files and programs you need.

So back up your files onto a portable hard drive before attempting to clean install W10 x64.

When you get to the part of the installation process where you are asked to enter a product key, select the 'I don't have a product key' option, and W10 will install and automatically activate once you are connected to the internet.

Then if you decide to add more memory, you can do so.

4 GB PC2-6400 memory modules are very expensive so if it were me, I would buy 4 x 2 GB of PC2-6400 memory and live with 8 GB.
