Hello, I'd like to import digital video into my HP ENVY Desktop PC TE01-2000i (1K4E9AV). Does the Envy support Firewire, and if yes, is there a certain name or brand or specs I need to look for. Is there a pci card that would work for this model computer?

Hi @jermhoba,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
The HP ENVY Desktop TE01-2000i does not natively include a FireWire (IEEE 1394) port, as this technology is no longer common in modern PCs. However, you can still add FireWire support by installing a compatible PCIe FireWire card. Here’s what you need to know.
Compatibility with HP ENVY TE01-2000i
- Your desktop includes PCIe expansion slots, which are compatible with most modern PCIe FireWire cards.
- Ensure the card you choose is a PCIe x1 card, as these are typically the ones compatible with consumer desktops like the HP ENVY.
Recommended FireWire PCIe Cards
Look for FireWire PCIe cards with these specifications:
- Chipset: Texas Instruments (TI) chipsets are highly recommended for their compatibility and stability.
- Ports: Ensure the card includes the required FireWire ports (400 Mbps, 800 Mbps, or both, depending on your device).
- Operating System Support: Check compatibility with Windows 10/11, as you’ll need drivers that work with these OS versions.
Installation Notes
- Open your HP ENVY desktop case.
- Insert the FireWire PCIe card into an available PCIe slot.
- Install any required drivers provided by the manufacturer or download them from their website.
Recommended Brands
- StarTech.com: Known for reliable FireWire cards.
- SIIG: Offers FireWire cards with TI chipsets.
- Syba: Provides cost-effective options.
Software for Importing Digital Video
After installing the FireWire card, you may need video capture software compatible with your digital video device. Programs like Adobe Premiere Pro, Windows Photos, or Scenalyzer can help import footage.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
