HP Pavilion 590-p0057na
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I am in the process of applying some upgrades and am starting with the RAM but the specs page is not totally clear, to get it upgraded to full I want to get 2 x 16GB DDR4 chips.

Has anyone tried this? The page I am using is:

Thanks all,

Hi, Karl:

According to the product specs, the memory upgrade info indicates it supports 2 x 16 GB of memory.

HP Desktop PCs - motherboard specifications, Sunflower | HP® Customer Support

But HP seems to have omitted the 16 GB memory chip support.

The Crucial memory report also indicates that 2 x 16 GB of memory is supported.

HP - Compaq Pavilion 590-p0057na | Memory RAM & SSD Upgrades | Crucial UK

You can also run this command to see how much memory your PC can actually support:

1. In the search box, search for cmd and click Run as administrator.

This will open the command prompt.

2. After the command prompt is opened, type wmic memphysical get maxcapacityEx and press the enter key.

There, it will show the maximum RAM capacity your PC's motherboard can support.

The capacity is shown as Kilobytes, so you have to convert it to Gigabytes by dividing the number provided in the report by 1,048,576.

Thanks for the help, that was great and worked. I took it from 8GB to 32GB but the cmd command you sent indicates I can go to 256gb.

Thanks for the help, the PC is faster now 🙂
