HP Slim Desktop - S01-aF0011

I can't find anything on this model and I am not sure why. I am trying to add ram but I am only able to replace the stock 4gb ram by the looks of it. Does this have a 2nd ram slot that I am unaware of? And if so, how do you install it?

Hi:

The motherboard memory upgrade specs HP provides has conflicting info.

HP Desktop PCs - Motherboard Specifications, Tobacco | HP® Customer Support

On one line it indicates there are two dimms per channel.

On another line, it indicates one memory slot.

On another line, it indicates the PC can support up to an 8 GB memory chip in the slot.

On another line it indicates the PC can support up to 16 GB of memory.

Since you have taken the PC apart and can only find one slot, then I would have to say that there is only one slot.

Now as to how much memory that slot can support, you can do this to find out:

1. In the search box, search for cmd and click Run as administrator.

This will open the command prompt.

2. Once command prompt is opened, type wmic memphysical get maxcapacityEx and hit enter.

There, it will show the maximum RAM capacity your PC's motherboard can support.

The capacity is shown as Kilobytes, so you have to convert it to Gigabytes by dividing the number provided in the report by 1,048,576.

I'm thinking the slot can support 1 x 16 GB of DDR4-2400/2666/3200 memory, which will run at 2400 MHz.
