Hp elite 8300 sff i7 3.40ghz
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

The specs page for the 8300 elite sff states ddr3 1600 non-ecc...

Is 1600 just what it comes with from factory or the minimum that can be installed?

Does it also need to be non-ecc?

I found some F3-2400C11D-16GSR “G-Skill Sniper” modules that I’d like to get from someone, but specs state SPD Speed is 1333. Tested @2400.

I just don’t know if the bios will recognize it or not and don’t want to buy it if non-overclocked speed needs to be 1600+ to work.

Thanks for reading long-winded, sort of technical question. A short and simple answer is just fine. Thank you.

@kbrawlz

For SFF, it supports 1600-MHz non-ECC DDR3 SDRAM; (4) DIMM slots enabling up to 32GB as shown

You can use 2 sets of the following RAM

   16GB (2 x 8GB) pair

This is not an acceptable reply, as you have pretty much repeated what I wrote above.

I am looking for specific technical answers and this did not address them.

you got your reply, HP specs 1600 mhz ram

if you wish to try non HP supported ram that's up to you,....you will need to determine if it will or will not work and to do this i would recommend you visit a memory makers website  (like crucial.com) and see what they list as available modules for the model system you have

@DGroves,

You make an excellent point. Crucial does list 1866 RAM.

No, I did not get my reply. I’m the one who wrote specs say 1600mhz ram is included.. please read my question.

Then you’ll see I’m asking for help from a nerd like me regarding the interface between the ram/socket/interface/bios on that specific elite.
