I've just picked up the 800 G8 SFF and have noticed that the stock cooler gets quite loud when the CPU is under heavy load.
I've looked around and saw that people have replaced the stock cooler with a Noctua nh-l9i on older generations of the 800 series but I can't seem to find any information on wether the G8 uses a proprietary configuration for the cooler screws/mount.
Just wondering if anyone could confirm this would actually fit in the G8 before I go and purchase one.
Cheers.

Welcome to our HP Community forum!
Upgrading the CPU cooling solution in your HP EliteDesk 800 G8 Small Form Factor (SFF) can be challenging due to space constraints and proprietary mounting mechanisms. Here are some considerations and potential options:
Compatibility and Mounting Challenges:
Proprietary Mounts: HP's SFF systems use custom mounting brackets, making it difficult to install standard aftermarket coolers without modifications.
Space Limitations: The compact design restricts the size and type of coolers that can fit, limiting options to low-profile solutions.
Potential Cooling Solutions:
Noctua NH-L9i: This low-profile cooler has been used in earlier EliteDesk models. However, compatibility with the G8 version is uncertain, and case modifications would be necessary.
HP's 95W TDP Heatsink (Part Number L30413-001 / L04397-001). Designed for higher thermal performance, this heatsink is compatible with HP EliteDesk 800 G3/G4/G5 SFF models. Availability of this particular HP heatsink is limited, and it may not provide a significant improvement over the stock cooler unless you add additional cooling fan(s) to improve overall airflow through your SFF case.
Considerations:
Modifications: Installing third-party coolers almost certainly requires altering the case or mounting system, voiding warranties.
Thermal Performance: Ensure any new cooler can handle your CPU's thermal output without exceeding the SFF case's cooling capacity.
Recommendations:
Case Modifications: Adding additional cooling fan(s) to improve airflow especially to cool the processor like I applied in these upgrade projects: Link: https://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/Desktop-Hardware-and-Upgrade-Questions/Upgrading-HP-EliteDesk-800-G5-S...:
And double-stacking CPU heatsink cooling fans -assuming it will fit in an SFF case: https://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/Desktop-Hardware-and-Upgrade-Questions/Upgrading-an-HP-Pavilion-TP01-3...:
DISCLAIMER: Due to the complexities involved, proceed with caution when attempting to upgrade the cooling system in your HP EliteDesk 800 G8 SFF.
