Hello,

The HP EliteDesk 800 G3 Mini uses the Intel LGA1151 (Socket H4) platform and supports both 6th-generation (Skylake) and 7th-generation (Kaby Lake) Intel Core processors.

Here are the details:

Supported CPU Options (official HP list)

  • Intel Core i7-7700 / i7-6700

  • Intel Core i5-7600 / i5-7500 / i5-6600 / i5-6500

  • Intel Core i3-7100 / i3-6100

  • Intel Pentium G4560

  • Intel Celeron G3930

Socket and Chipset

  • Socket: LGA1151

  • Chipset: Intel Q270

  • Maximum Supported TDP: 65W (Mini chassis thermal limit)

Recommended Choices

  • Best performance: Intel Core i7-7700 (4 cores / 8 threads, fully supported in this platform)

  • Balanced option: Intel Core i5-7500 (solid performance, lower thermals)

  • Value option: Intel Core i3-7100 (good for lightweight or kiosk workloads)

Notes

  • BIOS version 02.31 or later is required for 7th-generation CPU support.

  • The system uses a proprietary cooling solution — make sure you have the correct 65W-rated heatsink if upgrading to an i5 or i7.

  • The 35W CPUs (T-series) use a smaller heatsink and are not interchangeable with the 65W type without changing the assembly.
