HP EliteDesk 705 G5 Small Form Factor PC

My system has two M.2 slots for storage.  One is  M.2 PCIe x4 and one is M.2 PCIe x2.  How do I find out which one is which?

There are two M.2 slots.

One is for a WLAN card and the other is for an M.2 SSD

See the item #29 in the motherboard viewer for your PC that is in the hyperlink below.

That is mislabeled as being the G5, when it's of the G4.  The  G5 does in fact have two for storage and one for wifi.

Regardless, you will notice if you inspect the slots carefully by eye under a bright light, that the M.2 slots have two  different slot key different configurations.

Generally, the M.2 slot will have the M or B+M key configuration and will not physically fit in the WLAN slot because of the key configuration used.

The WLAN slot normally has a single key and it will be either A or E key used for PCIe and USB connections to the chipset I/O controller.
