There are two M.2 slots.
One is for a WLAN card and the other is for an M.2 SSD
See the item #29 in the motherboard viewer for your PC that is in the hyperlink below.

Regardless, you will notice if you inspect the slots carefully by eye under a bright light, that the M.2 slots have two different slot key different configurations.
Generally, the M.2 slot will have the M or B+M key configuration and will not physically fit in the WLAN slot because of the key configuration used.
The WLAN slot normally has a single key and it will be either A or E key used for PCIe and USB connections to the chipset I/O controller.
