HP EliteDesk 800 G5 Desktop Mini PC IDS BaseModel

Hello,

I have a second NVME installed below the drawer for a standard SSD. The installation was successful, but the standard tray for SSD's - which had to be removed for installation, can no longer be installed.
The plug-in module of the 2nd NVME is simply too high on the motherboard and no longer allows the installation of the drawer.

My question:
What is the procedure for installing a second NVME?
Is this only possible with the loss of the standard SSD?

Thanks for feedback

Martin

Hello erico,
thank you very much for your feedback.
Unfortunately I don't see a reply from you within the forum, so I'll just try a reply to my own post.

I'll try to describe my problem better:
I have had the small HP Elitedesk 800 G5 Mini PC for a few weeks now and wanted to upgrade it for myself. Upgrading RAM was easy. In addition to the already installed 256 GB M.2 SSD NVMW as plug-in module, I have now installed another 1 TB M.2 SSD NVMW as plug-in module. There are now two M.2 SSD NVMW plug-in modules installed. Both plug-in modules are now occupied.
To install this module, I had to remove the bracket (with vent) for the SSD in 2.5-inch format.
After I successfully installed the additional 1 TB M.2 SSD NVMW as a plug-in module in the slightly elevated slot, I just can't get the bracket for the SSD in 2.5-inch format installed. There is at least 2 mm missing which is no longer available due to the new M.2.
I have watched many videos, but none describe the installation of 2 x M.2 plug-in modules in an "HP Elitedesk 800 G5 Mini PC".

The 1 TB was recognized flawlessly and I am working with it.

Currently I do not have the bracket for the SSD in 2.5 inch format installed and would be happy about a solution in which I can also install another SSD in 2.5 inch format.

I tried to find out something here: https://www.servethehome.com/hp-elitedesk-800-g4-mini-tinyminimicro-guide-review/ which already shows very well the handling, but not an installation of 2 plug-in modules.
In the picture: these are the two modules https://tinypic.host/i/M2.ouFHGq
In the picture: this bracket does not go afterwards to install https://tinypic.host/i/M2-2.ouFLLL
This one was installed: Samsung 980 PCIe 3.0 NVMe M.2 SSD 1 TB | MZ-V8V1T0BW
----
Can you give me a tip on how to install it?

It does not appear that there is any other option than giving up the drive cage bracket

For some strange reason there are no videos available on the Elitedesk 800 G5 mini in the HP Support video library.

Hello erico,

that there is no normal solution is now clear to me.
However, it seems that HP is not even aware of this misconstruction. To build a part where you have to remove parts if you want to upgrade it is very strange... Otherwise they would have made specifications for the 2nd M.2 or pointed out somewhere that their design can't be used with the standard SSD if an M.2 wants to be installed...

What your google link should tell me, I also can not comprehend, because that all represents possibilities that I can not use within the housing.

For me, that settles the issue.
Thanks for your support.
-> I still don't understand why I can't see the answers from you in the forum, but it doesn't matter now.
I hope this information about alleged faulty design or the missing info on installation and the associated loss of the drive cage bracket, is communicated to HP - would be a shame for the great products.

Greetings
Martin
