Hello I have an erica 5 motherboard it came with a ryzen 7 5700g. This cpu has been transplanted. I got a ryzen 3 4300g witch hp says is compatible and when I try to but nothing but a black screen. Do I need to down grade or update the bios. And if so how with out a cpu in it.

@Ziginc,

Welcome to our peer-to-peer HP Community Forum!

If I had to guess, the most logical explanation is that you don't have a HP Erica5 motherboard (SSID: 87D7), which is compatible with these processors:

But rather, you got an HP Erica6 motherboard (SSID: 8906), which is compatible with these processors:

And thus not compatible with an AMD Ryzen 3 4300G.

The motherboard says erica31704434768068108254327931266109.jpg-erica5 on it so how can it be a 6..

The cpu came out of the same motherboard. It says 5 so either its a mispri

@Ziginc,

OK, the point is this: you said that your motherboard is an HP Erica5, originally fitted with an AMD Ryzen 7 5700G.

Point is, that is impossible. Only an HP Erica6 motherboard would support this processor, not an HP Erica5 motherboard.

You pretty much established that you got an HP Erica5 motherboard, but not with an original AMD Ryzen 7 5700G but probably an AMD Ryzen 7 4700G. You are correct: as I mentioned in my previous post, an AMD Ryzen 3 4300G should run on your HP Erica5 motherboard without any problems whatsoever.

That leaves two scenarios: either the AMD Ryzen 3 4300G is defective, or your motherboard is.

Am so confused ok. The motherboard I sent a photo of had a ryzen 7 5700g in it. But the motherboard says erica5 on it. So is the motherboard missed labled or does it have some kind of custom bios on it. Because I put a ryzen 3 3400g in the motherboard I sent picture of but it won't boot. So I am guessing it was missed labeled motherboard then.

Here is the serial number for the pc that I sent phot of motherboard and you can confirm it had a ryzen 7 5700g in it.

@Ziginc,

Btw, Community rules stipulate not to share serial numbers of any kind, but in your case, this proved to be exceedingly helpful: your desktop is fitted with an Erica6 motherboard:

Therefore, an AMD Ryzen 3 4300G is not compatible with your motherboard.
