So recently my HP Integrated Webcam stopped working. When I check my device manager, it says this "Currently, this hardware device is not connected to the computer. (Code 45) To fix this problem, reconnect this hardware device to the computer."
Any idea on how to fix this?

Hello there Randomb!: Welcome to Your Forum
there are 2 things to try that might work
1. go to your computer icon with your rodent's right button highlight then scroll down it's menu until you see device manager cliick on device manager to open up a listing of all the hardware & drivers that makes up your PC go down this listing it should tell you the model of web camera you have sometimes you'll find out whether or not your webcamera is functioning correctly or not by either a yellow background with a black exclamation point or more forebodingly ominous a red background with an white x now in both cases move your peepers over to the top right side of the page if you hover the mouse pointer you'll see two tiny icons one of which tells you to uninstall the driver after this sometimes the computer will restart & Windows will reinstall the driver for you or you'll have to start up recovery manager to see if you have a reinstall hardware & driver & reinstall it thru the recovery manager.
2. go over to the support section of www.hp.com then in the box located at the top type in the model of the PC that you own then look for drivers you can find for your web cam follow whatever procedures you observe on your screen you should be fine afterwards.
good luck
hope this helps enlightens & pushes back your computing frontiers

I tried to update it, but it said the correct versions were already installed. I also went onto the website and looked up my computer for any drivers that need updating. But there were quite a few and none of them specifically said "webcam" or anything, so could you point out which one I should upate?

Welcome back Randomb: Once again with your right mouse button revisit Device manager once you notice your PC tree wth the branches indicating what's connected click on each category ie. computer, sound etc one at a time noting what you have sooner or later you'll go "whoot there it is!" & either make a mental note or write it down on a scrap piece of paper to update the driver
2. if the device in question still insists on being elusive then restart your box this time go to the BIOS do the same thing in there that you did in DEvice Manager done at a time with a "fine toothed comb" you'll find it soon enough
both suggestions will enable you to precisely get the exact driver you need for an update
3. does your recovery manager give you the option to reinstall either the driver, the webcam hardware in question or both?
hopefully this isn't a system misconfiguration problem which luckly I haven't had to deal with since the late '90's with my 2nd machine the IBM Aptiva 2176 C-66 running Win 95 thru 98
good luck
hope this works
come back so that my fellow owners can get to the bottom of this
