Hello everyone,

I'm having a problem with an OMEN HP Desktop PC - 880-106ng.

I keep getting the error message "PUMP SPEED (90B)" at startup.

I've already searched the forum for this issue and tried various solutions to fix it.

Unfortunately, nothing has worked.

I've performed a hard reset, updated the BIOS to the latest version, and even replaced the fans, but nothing has helped.

Could someone please help me resolve this problem?

If you need any further information, please let me know.

Thank you very much.

Greetings @lugge

Welcome to the HP Forum.

Well, the 90B pump error could be a false positive.

Download and run HWiNFO portable (free) to check CPU temps at idle. Also download and run Intel Burn Test with HWiNFO running to check CPU temps under load. Intel Burn Test also works with AMD CPUs.

You would have to replace the AIO CPU Liquid cooler if the CPU temps are high suggesting the pump is failing or coolant levels have dropped.

Hi, thanks for the answer,

I'll try it tonight and see what the program shows me.

You mentioned a liquid cooler. But I don't have a liquid cooler.

I have a regular cooler with a fan.

That's why I don't understand why it's showing the pump speed.

Nothing is connected to that header; it's connected to the regular CPU fan header.

If I connect something to the pump fan header, the BIOS shows me the RPM, but I still get the error.

My pleasure.

I thought your PC had an AIO CPU liquid cooler. or you were seeing a false positive, since the PC is providing a pump speed error message at system startup.

I would say the BIOS has a problem or the pump sensor has a problem.

Try a BIOS reset to defaults. Then start the PC to see how things go. Still seeing the pump speed error?

Then try a CMOS reset by removing the CR2032 MB battery when the PC is disconnected from AC power.

Depress and hold down the power button for about 5 to 10 seconds a couple of times to deenergize the MB before removing the MB battery.

Let the PC sit for about 5 to 10 minutes after removing the battery. It would not hurt to replace the CR2032 MB battery with a new one.

The MB pump speed sensor may be providing false positives if resetting the BIOS and clearing CMOS does not help.

You can still use Windows. You might have to live with the annoying pump speed startup error. I don't believe your PC's BIOS offers a setting to disable this error message.

Hi Bill_To

Thank you so much for the solutions.

I've tried everything, including resetting the CMOS.

Unfortunately, that didn't help either.

Is there any way to replace the sensor?

Or is that not possible? Would a new BIOS chip offer any chance of bypassing this issue?

It's a shame that there are no settings for it in the BIOS.

I can read the RPM, but unfortunately, i can't adjust any settings.

It's really frustrating.

It's a pity that you can't use a perfectly good and functioning computer without any problems because there are no BIOS settings.

My pleasure.

You're seeing a ghost pump speed warning since no component is connected to the pump header.

The sensor output is probably directly provided by the MB PWM pump/fan header pinouts. I would not know if the faulty component could be replaced.

I don't think the PC has a faulty BIOS chip.

A possible BIOS update, if one exists for your MB, might help . Drivers for your PC are available Here. W10 updates will work with W11.

HP is providing two different MB purchase options with your PC's product number.

MB SSID 8437

MB SSID 84F6

Check the Baseboard Product in Windows System Information to get your PC's specific MB SSID.

A 2022 BIOS update is available for both MBs. If your PC is currently running the latest BIOS update available then this option would be a dead end.
