I couldn't quite find the correct category to submit my question, so I hope this on will work.
I have an HP SimpleSave md1000h External Hard Drive that I originally purchased to use with my Dish Network DVR, so it was formatted for the DVR. I have since unsubscribed to Dish, and I would like to use the external hard drive with my HP PC.
When I plug it into the USB port, it comes up as CD Driver: HP Launcher. The file in it is HPLauncher.exe. No other files show up, even though there are many on the drive. I tried to execute the HP Launcher, but nothing happens.
I think I probably need to reformat the hard drive so that it is compatible with my PC. However, I can't figure out how to do so. I tried right-clicking on "CD Driver" to see if it had an option for formatting it, but it doesn't.
Does anyone have some ideas on what I need to do so that I can use the external hard drive? I don't care about the files that are on it, since I won't be using them anymore.
