My computer, now several years old, came with a standard hard drive (for data) and SSD (for OS).  Before I open up the computer, can anyone tell me if I can add an extra SSD to this computer?  Thank you for your time.

By SSD I assume you mean another M.2 card SSD.  There is only one M.2 slot that supports a M.2 SSD on the motherboard, but I see there Two PCI Express x16 physical slots (Gen 3.0), each slot with x8 bus lanes.  If one of those is unused, a PCIExpressx16 adapter for M.2 additional card may work for what is desired.
