HP Desktop M01-F1030
Microsoft Windows 11

I have an HP Desktop M01-F1030 desktop that should be able to accommodate an extra hard disk. The screws were provided in the packeage in which it was delivered.

I opened the case and saw a hard disk bay. I think I also saw a SATA connector dangling loose.

But I do not seem to find an extra power connection for it.

Can anyone give some advise please?

Hi,

You should have a SATA power and SATA data cable preinstalled at the factory. The SATA power cable would be black and connects to the MB. HP provides SATA power from the MB, not directly from the power supply

Check again.

The dangling SATA cable should be power. You may have tp provide a SATA data cable if it is not present.

Regards

You were right; the dangling cable was the SATA power cable indeed. After a closer look, there was an extra (black) SATA data cable installed as well. It was more or less hidden behind the drive bay so I didn't spot it at first.

I installed the extra drive and it's happily turning already...

There appeared to be an extra SATA data cable as well. I did not see at at first...
