Since the last update Face Recognition says Hello and my name, and then immediately asks for a password.

In other words no more face recognition !!

Hi @ElReg13,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query. I will be glad to help you.

I understand your Windows Hello Face Recognition is not working after a recent update. There are a few troubleshooting steps you can follow to resolve the issue:

Uninstall and Reinstall the IR Camera Driver:

  • Open Device Manager by searching for it in the Start menu.

  • Double-click Imaging devices, right-click the IR camera, and select Uninstall device.

  • Check Delete the driver software for this device, and click Uninstall.

  • Visit the HP Customer Support - Software and Driver Downloads to download and install the latest driver for your IR camera.

  • Restart your PC and check if Face Recognition works.

Remove Face Recognition and PIN Settings:

  • Open Settings, and click Accounts.

  • Navigate to Sign-in options.

  • Under Windows Hello Face, click Remove.

  • Under PIN, click Remove and confirm.

  • Re-set up the Face Recognition and PIN.

Clear the Trusted Platform Module (TPM):

  • Be cautious, as this might lead to data loss. Back up your data first.

  • Disable any apps and features using TPM, like BitLocker.

  • Restart and access the BIOS Setup by pressing F10 during startup.

  • Under Security, disable features like Intel SGX and Intel TXT if available.

  • Clear TPM using the TPM management tool by typing tpm.msc in Run.

  • Restart and follow the on-screen prompts to clear TPM.

Re-add PIN and Set up Face Recognition:

  • Return to Settings > Accounts > Sign-in options.

  • Add a new PIN, then under Windows Hello Face, click Set up.

  • Follow the on-screen instructions to set up face recognition again.

    I hope this helps.

Take care and have an amazing day!
