HI @ACTProfessor,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
If the fan on your HP All-in-One computer is running continuously even when the computer is cool, here are some steps you can take to troubleshoot the issue:
1. Check for Background Processes
- Open Task Manager (Ctrl + Shift + Esc) to see if any processes are using a lot of CPU resources. High CPU usage can cause the fan to run continuously.
2. Update BIOS/UEFI
- Sometimes, a BIOS update can fix fan control issues. Visit the HP support website, enter your model, and check for any available BIOS updates.
3. Inspect Fan and Vents
- Ensure that the air vents are not obstructed by dust or debris. Clean the vents with compressed air if necessary.
4. Adjust Power Settings
- Go to Control Panel > Power Options and adjust your plan settings. Look for advanced settings to see if fan control can be adjusted.
5. Run HP Hardware Diagnostics
- Restart the computer and run HP Hardware Diagnostics to check for any hardware issues. You can usually access this by pressing Esc or F2 during startup.
6. Check for Malware
- Run a full system scan using your antivirus software. Malware can cause high CPU usage, leading to continuous fan operation.
7. Reset the System Management Controller (SMC)
- For some systems, resetting the SMC can help with fan issues. This can often be done by disconnecting the power, holding the power button for 15 seconds, and then reconnecting power.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
