HP Elite Mini 800 G9 Desktop PC (4B435AV)

Hi all,

I have a fan noise issue on a new HP Elite G9 800 i7-12700 512Gb M2.

There are 2 fan noises in fact (on top of the fan blades' normal sound): one is like a small "crackling", similar to old days HDD but is rather low.... I need to put my ears on top of the machine.

The other fan noise, is more disturbing,. It is like a continuous shrill sound. It evolves as the fan speed changes. I can hear it from my seat. I do not think it is normal for a mini desktop which should be located on your desk, next to you....

I got those noises even if there is no specific processes running. All the mini desktop is up to date (Windows 11, Bios, etc ...).

Strangely, FYI, if I put the desktop in sleep mode, the fan continue to work and this "shrill" sounds as well but like super super low (can't hear it unless I put my ear on top of the desktop). Not sure if it is normal.

I checked the inside and everything seems ok and clean...

Do you have any ideas?

Thank you in advance,

N.

Just of the records: I returned this mini and got a new one.

The new one does not make those sounds and is definitely super quiet.

Hence, first one had a defect. I recommend you return it straight away if this happens to you.
