@Gutcheck89 , welcome to the Community.
I don't believe that this would be the outcome of the BIOS update. HP normally doesn't do BIOS updates to allow for component upgrades. They have too many BIOS'es to make it feasible. You can look at the section titled "Processor upgrade information" in the Motherboard Specifications page for a list of compatible processors. If the processor is not listed it most likely will not work.
