I tried to get proper information from HP customer care but could not get any support. My question is:
My all in one desktop has only 512 GB SSD and has additional slot for expansion. I wish to install additional 512 GB in the spare slot provided. The hardware specification mentions the spare slot as: One M.2 socket 3, 2280 for type SSD (PCIe x2 or SATA x1).
I contacted the authorized service center and they told me that they do not supply the SSD but if I bring it to them, they will install it. They can not help me to give details about which one should I buy either.
I need to know what SSD drive specifications should I buy from the market which will be best suitable for my desktop.
Desktop is barely six months old and is under warranty.

@ARO1 , welcome to the Community.
There are 2- M.2 sockets on the motherboard, but one of then is for M.2 socket 1, 2230 type for WLAN and Bluetooth and the other is for M.2 socket 3, 2280 type for SSD (PCIe x2 or SATA x1), as you stated. The specifications don't mention any other bays for hard drives or SSD's: https://support.hp.com/us-en/document/c07027464

As I stated, there are no open M.2 sockets on your motherboard. You will have to replace the one that is installed.
I suggest that you choose a M.2 manufacturer and contact their Tech Support for help with choosing the best m.2 for your system. They are the experts on their products. This will save you time and money.

Sir, In the desktop specifications it clearly says that the Desktop has:
EXPANSION SLOTS: 2 M.2 (1 for SSD, 1 for WLAN).
What I understand from this is that there is a slot available for one additional SSD drive.
Sorry for my lack of knowledge but this is how I understand the meaning of expansion slot.
thanks.

@ARO1, the computer comes with a M.2 installed. This is installed in the only M.2 socket for a SSD on the motherboard. Therefore, you will have to remove it to add a larger M.2.
