Im using Hp dx5150.

I  need a little more information please.  First how many times in a row does the red light flash, for instance 3 times then a pause and then 3 again. The number of flashes is important. And are you sure you tried an IDE hard drive ? To my recollection the dx5150 is SATA interface on the hard drives. And this is a chart with the flash codes for your system.

It flashes four times then it stops.

That would be a power supply problem. Possibly the PSU is overloaded by a hardware device. It is possible that the HDD is a problem causing the overload. The best way to diagnose the cause is disconnect everything from the motherboard except the PSU power in of course. Then one at a time add components such as hard drive, optical drive, etc. until the fault returns. The page I referred to has more information on that. Of course it is possible that the PSU is failing. Also make sure all of the PSU cables are seated properly.

And again, are you sure that the drive you are trying to install is IDE as every spec I see lists the interface in your system as SATA?

It supports both Sata and IDE but im using  IDE Hard drivers. When I put the one which is 250 Gb it starts but when I put the one of 80gb it fail.

If everything is fine until you install the 80 GB drive then it would seem to indicate a problem with that drive. Or that drive is pulling just enough extra power to cause the error. Have you another drive you can install just to see if another drive also causes the problem? But I am assuming that 80 GB drive is old (correct?) and very possibly is defective.
