Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I would like to set the F-keys to the classic setting, rather than have them set as hotkeys, as they were from the factory. I cannot find any information on how to do that for the desktop.

@MoonDiamond, Welcome to the HP Support Community!

I'm afraid, this is by design and the computer does not have the action key mode feature.

Few models of HP Notebooks have an option of disabling this option by going to BIOS, refer to this document. (Only for Notebooks)

The f1 to f11 keys perform as either multimedia keys, or standard function keys. The default is multimedia.

To switch from multimedia to standard function, press the fn+esc keys simultaneously; this locks the keys to standard function. To switch back from standard function to multimedia, press the fn+esc keys simultaneously again.

Pressing the fn key simultaneously with an f1 to f11 key, performs the standard function.

Keep me posted for any other assistance.

Sad to say, the solution "fn + esc" did not work on my hardware. I still only get the multi-media commands when i press the f1 - f11 keys. I appreciate the suggestion, though.

This is as per design. The option to modify it only applies to Notebooks and not desktops.

Keep me posted for any other assistance.
