Hello,

I am trying to upgrade some parts in my PC, and I was wondering if some things are compatible at all with my current motherboard. A friend was gonna sell me his GeForce 3060ti XC, and I was wondering if that was compatible with my motherboard, which is an HP 830c according to my system information. My PC is an HP Omen 870-210, which is a little outdated at the moment, hence why I am upgrading it. If the need arises, I will just get a new motherboard and everything, I have the means to do so. I just want to try and save money where possible.

@rm3882136,

Welcome to our HP User Forum!

Your OMEN by HP Desktop PC - 870-210 (Z5M40AA), as fitted with a Thimphu-K motherboard (SSID: 2B4B) -which happens to be 24-pin ATX power enabled, meaning, you can upgrade your power supply with any industry standard ATX PSU, as long as you watch its dimensions (LxWxH) for fit inside your rig.

Speaking of power supply, according to: https://support.hp.com/us-en/document/c05380402, you got a 300-watt power supply. Assuming the RTX 3060 Ti fits inside your case, you need to aim for at least a 600-watt ATX power supply with two separate power rails. And keep in mind that an RTX 3060 Ti likely needs a dual 8-pin to 12-pin PCIe power adpter cable too.

You described your PC as 'a little outdated', but fitted with an i7-7700K -which are currently available for $110 or less via eBay, such as this trusted purchase option: https://www.ebay.com/itm/314620906691?epid=28047521225&hash=item4940de0cc3%3Ag%3A8W4AAOSw1kxkdn7%7E&..., 2 x 16GB (or at least 2 x 8GB) of DDR4 2133 MHz dual-rank RAM sticks (such as Timetec p/n: B01N1441J7), a decent M.2 NVMe SSD as your primary (boot) drive and a high performance graphics card like the one you want to purchase, your gaming will witness a quantum leap in serious Gaming.

Hope this was helpful.

Kind Regards,
