I apologize if posting here as a new issue, after posting at the end of my original problem, of Upgrading my GPU/Video Card.

I'm in a little bit of pickle now. I'm attaching a image of the Kaili Motherboard used in my machine. Highlighted by the red rectangle is the small area of the Ram securing tabs that's preventing the GPU from seating in the PCI slot.

I got the CPU, PSU and the GPU. Sadly the Nvidia RTX 3070 will not fit in my machine. It lacks less than 1/8th inch if that. The Ram socket tabs on the end, are in the way, which will not allow the card to seat in the PCI slot for it.

I've tried searching for something I could use, like a Motherboard. So far no luck. I hate to buy a new PC, since I have the GPU, CPU and PSU.

Recommendations?

@GPU_gramps,

Welcome to our HP User Forum!

I have a recommendation, but it depends on how much space is left between the top of your RTX 3070 and your desktop panel.  If you got 18.8mm (~2cm) to play with, then using a PCIe x16 Male to PCIE 16x Female Riser:

-Would help.  What this adapter will do is to lift the graphics card slightly up from your motherboard's PCIe x16 slot, which may resolve clearing (literally) the issue as you described.

Here are two purchase options: https://www.ebay.com/itm/404255191702?hash=item5e1f7cb296:g:00sAAOSw7cxkQlfe&amdata=enc%3AAQAIAAAA0I..., and: https://www.amazon.com/GODSHARK-PCI-Express-Extension-Protector-Adapter/dp/B07RWRK2L6/ref=sr_1_14?cr..., would help you out.

Hope this was helpful.

Kind Regards,

In addition to extenders or risers like @NonSequitur777 suggested, you can remove the lip of the locking mechanism for the ram

I assume your RTX has a metal stiffener board that is causing the problem.  If the stiffener board does not reach into the actual socket you could carefully snip off the lap at the red colored lines.  I have had to do this myself.

If the rtx extends past the socket (the black plastic) you would have to remove the stiffener and use a Dremel to trim the metal plate assuming the part that needed trimming does not have screws or attachments that are needed.

Well that was a waste of time and money. Using the riser card, I did manage to get the GTX 3070 to fit, but it was so loose, and no way to tighten it up. The feet the go between the Mobo, and case, of course were not long enough. It would not function.

One thing I'm not certain, the power cable to the 3070. It came with a 12 pin to dual 8 pin, but real short. In the mess of cables for the Corsair 850 PSU, there was 1 that I could plug into one of the dual 8 pins, which I plugged into the PSU. The other 8 pin of the dual had nothing.
