Victus by HP 15L Gaming Desktop PC TG02-0000a (4H508AV)
Microsoft Windows 11

Hello everyone! I hope you can help me with this problem that is driving me crazy!

I have this PC: HP Victus 15L R5 5600G RTX3050 6GB version 32GB RAM

Until a few days ago the PC was working excellent for me, but after updating the Nvidia drivers I noticed that when I turned off the PC completely the GPU turned on with the fans at maximum. I wanted to revert the drivers, I have tried everything I can think of and nothing has worked. It even happens when I shut down from the BIOS.

What could be happening?

Note: The PC works excellent, CPU and GPU tests pass without problems, I have spent more than 6 hours playing and nothing happens. The problem is when turning off the PC completely.

Thanks for your time!

Greetings @samedudiaz

Welcome to the HP Forum.

That's a really strange problem.

Did you try installing the previous Nvidia drivers, if you had a backup of the drivers, to check for a fix?

Try disconnecting from the network. Now uninstall the current Nvidia drivers and other Nvidia software in Control Panel>Programs and Features.

Restart the PC.

This should force Windows to use base video drivers. Check Device Manager to verify Nvidia drivers are not in use.

Try turning off the PC when using Windows video drivers to check the PC.

Let the Forum know how it goes.

Hi!

Thank you very much for the reply, I just tried what you told me to do. I removed the driver and all existing Nvidia software, but when I turn off the computer (after restart) the same problem continues.

If it helps, when I put the PC into sleep mode or when I turn it off from the BIOS the problem also appears.

My pleasure.

Then I'm guessing your PC would have some other issue. Maybe Windows system file corruption or a possible hardware problem?

Check System Files:

Open an Admin command prompt as follows:

Open Search then enter "command prompt". Right-click on the search result.

Select "Run as Administrator".

Enter the following commands, one at a time. Wait for each command to complete before running the next command.

DISM.exe /Online /Cleanup-image /Restorehealth note: the PC must be connected to the network when using the DISM command.

Restart the PC if Windows found and fixed file corruption.

Then enter the next command to verify system files are okay.

sfc /scannow

A continuing problem could point to a power supply problem or a MB problem.

PCs work great until they don't. I've never experienced this issue.

At this point (no fix) I would probably back up data. Then try a non-destructive in-place Windows 11 upgrade if the problem persists. W11 24H2 can do a Windows Update, in-place upgrade located in Settings> System>Recovery>Fix problems using Windows Update.

Same problem after all of the above would seem to point to hardware.

Hello!

I apologize for responding late. I'll tell you what I did, I have done everything I have found in other forums and also what you recommended. However, it had no effect, I decided to reinstall Windows (clean installation) with W11 24H2 and the problem continues. What seemed strange to me was that after playing GTA V and streaming live on the purple platform for a couple of hours, the PC did turn off completely and also the GPU, I could notice that the temperature had risen a little for that the fans were at 80%, but as I mentioned, the PC did turn off normally. This is a little crazy.

You did a clean W11 install but the problem continued.

But, you played a game and did some other stuff, now the PC shuts down correctly.

I don't know what to tell you. Very unusual and very unpredictable behavior.

Keep an eye on things if the PC is now behaving normally after doing a clean W11 installation.

Or play a game in windowed mode. Download and run HWiNFO  portable alongside the game to check component temps and other component variables.

Or stress the PC using OCCT to check stability and temps.
