Pavilion 690-0020na

Hi,

I'm reaching out for support on upgrading the gpu on my sons PC , as I have no idea where to start.

He has a HP Pavilion 690-0020NA

Spec:

Processor: i5 + 8400

Video Graphics: GeForce gtx 1050 (2GB)

Power Supply: 310W Internal PSU

Ram upgraded to 2x16GB Corsair Vengeance lpx, ddr4 2666 MHz

Ideally he's looking for a gpu that will support the occulus quest 2 without needinga new psu, if this isn't an option we're just looking for the best upgrade option based on the existing psu.

Thanks in advance for your advice

Emily

hi

https://support.oculus.com/articles/headsets-and-accessories/oculus-link/oculus-link-compatibility/

see what is indicated for compatibility
but with a power supply of only 310 w, your options are almost nil
Look at the requirements of graphics cards, whether in power, and pci connectors power supply required

Thanks for your swift reply

The motherboard is HP Lincs SSID: 843B

I'll see if I can navigate through what you've sent and find a solution.

I do not understand any of the tech specs unfortunately, I was intending to order a part a ask a local company to fit it, however it sound's like I may not be able to upgrade the gpu to work with the occulus quest 2. Do you know if there's any other viable gou upgrade I can do with psu it has, ghis does need to be compatiblewith the occulus quest?

Thanks

Emily

You can see in the list I gave, what you can possibly install with the original power supply
But since you wanted to go to a professional, ask him directly what is possible
I think it will not cost much more, if it is he who directly orders the graphics card
remember to request a quote before
take a good look at the compatibility list for the device, in order to check if it is worth it, the computer is already quite old
