Has anybody else tried upgrading a Z220 CMT with a GTX 1060 graphics card? The card consumes quiet low power (< 130 watts) and would be a worthy upgrade for my GTX 750 TI - which worked nicely for the past two years but draws only 75 watts.

@timvdh, welcome to the forum.
Here is the Maintenance and Service Guide for the computer. Beginning on Page 26 you will find the Workstation specifications. It gives you the specs of compatible video cards. The first spec that is very important is, the motherboard has to have UEFI, which I believe that you have since you were using a GTX 750Ti. As you can see, it will handle two video cards as long as they don't require more than 150W total. I believe that most of the GTX 1070 cards require a 500W PSU, however. Also, you will want to measure the space where the card will be installed: measure from the Back I/O plate to the front of the case. These cards are normally very long.
If all of the above conditions are met, I believe that the card should work.

In the meantime I purchased a GiBy6GB D5 GTX 1060 G1 card and it works great in the Z220 CMT. One should order a PCIe 6 to PCIe 8 adapter with the card, since the card has the newer 8 pin connector and the Z200 only has the 6 pin version. This does however not seem to be a disadvantage. I used the card for about five hours under heavy load and neigther does it get too loud nor show any other misbehaviour. Which is great, because I love my Z220, it is extremely reliable and still fast enough, and with the GTX 1060 a resolution of 2560 x 1440 with high details and 60fps is no problem with current games.
