Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I recently installed  a GTX550Ti Graphics Card into my HP Elitedesk 800 G1 USFF desktop computer and the card wasn't recognized. The fans were running and the card was firmly locked into the PCI-E x16 slot, but both bios, windows and device manager weren't able to recognize that it was there. I tried holding down the graphics card while it ran but it was to no avail.

I should mention, that I had to "modify" the ultra slim case in order to it the graphics card in the PCI-E x16 slot with use of hacksaw and pliers. By disconnecting a USB port and removing the bracket holders and brackets, the card was able to be inserted.

I do not believe I have damaged or touched the mother board in anyway, while the case was being "modified". Using my other graphics card, one that is low-profile, I was able to boot windows. Do you believe that the motherboard is not able to support the card, or other any solutions on why it is not working?

The specs for the card indicate it needs a 1 x 6 pin supplemental power connector in order to work.

The 800 G1's power supply does not come with such a connector.
