HP Compaq 8200 elite convertible minitower pc
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I bought this pc used with the gpu and it doesn't work did some google about the card and I found out I have to update the PSU, so I did that. and it still doesn't show a signal or or even show up in my device manger. The fans spin on start up but stop after> I cant even install drivers because it hasn't detected the GPU. I'm running out of ideas I've tried almost about everything.

I tried updating bios but there is no bios update.. not sure what to do. Any tips?

@Pklix , welcome to the Community.

It would help if I had the manufacturer and complete model of the video card.  According to the information that I found here, the MSI card requires 500W and 1x6-pin and 1x8-pin power connectors.

the 8200 elite sff has a 240 watt supply and no AUX GPU 6 pin cable

the 8200 elite minitower has a 330 watt supply and no AUX GPU 6 pin cable

all video cards must draw 30 watts or less for the SFF model, and 50 watts for the minitower

both of the above systems use non standard power supplies that are not ATX compatible

the nvidia GTX 970 REQUIRES a 6 pin GPU aux power supply connection as it draws approx 170 watts

since you have a minitower, it's possible to replace the HP supply with a ATX 550 watt unit using a adapter, the link below says 8300 elite but works on the 8200 minitower as both models use the same HP power supply

https://www.moddiy.com/products/HP-Compaq-Elite-8300-CMT-PSU-Main-Power-24-Pin-to-6-Pin-Adapter-Cabl...

note, make sure to use a QUALITY power supply!!!! those 30.00 ebay 600 watt units are crap!!!! buy Antec/Pc Pwr&Cooling /corsair and so on
