@Garrosh6,

Welcome to our HP User Forum!

Your HP ProDesk 400 G6 MT, according to: http://h10032.www1.hp.com/ctg/Manual/c06513593.pdf, is either fitted with a 180-watt power supply (HP p/n: L29203-001), a 250-watt power supply (HP p/n: L29869-001), or a 310-watt power supply -part number unknown. Anyway, please verify what you got under the hood, so to speak.  Depending on which power supply you have -or are willing to upgrade to, determines what higher performance graphics card will be able to run in your PC.

In any regards, the best power supply for your desktop would be the elusive 310-watt power supply as referenced in multiple HP sources.  Without providing a part number anywhere -but I digress. From my research, and to the best of my ability to dig around in cyberspace, its part number is probably: L08262-004. Then again, it could be: 937516-004.

In most cases, the sought-for part number is relatively easily retrievable, this is, unfortunately, not one of them.

To be honest, you may have to purchase the L08262-004 and try it out -that's what I would do and have done with upgrade projects like yours, such as from this Seller who allows returns: NEW HP PCG007 Power Supply - L08262-004 80+ Gold 310W | eBay.

Second thing I would like you to verify are the dimensions of your power supply. Is it: 95mm x 73mm x 165mm?

Kind Regards,

thank you for your response @NonSequitur777, the PSU has an "80 plus gold" verification on it and the sticker says the outage is 310 watts.

I couldn't measure the dimensions due to the small space available from opening the case but it is similar to the numbers you've provided.

@Garrosh6,

That is really good news: with a 310-watt power supply you have more graphics card options available to you!

I really would like to know its part number.

If you are on a budget, your best option -in my opinion, would be a GTX 1650.  This card will triple the graphics performance compared with your RX550: UserBenchmark: AMD RX 550 vs Nvidia GTX 1650.

If you are willing to spend more money and really maximize graphics performance given your 310-watt power supply, look no further than the RTX A2000.  You'll get more than 5X the graphics performance compared with an RX 550.

Both cards are powered through their PCIe x16 slot, and do not use a PCIe power cable.

Thank you so much, 'll attach a photo of the sticker on the PSU so you can know everything about it. IMG20230310194228.jpg

@Garrosh6,

You are very welcome!

Thank you for providing the 310-watt power supply's part number for the HP ProDesk 400 G6 MT: L08262-004.

This is likely to be very helpful for other HP ProDesk 400 G6 MT users, who wish to upgrade from their 180 or 250-watt power supply.

Kind Regards,
