Welcome to our peer-to-peer HP Community Forum!
Your HP ProDesk 400 G1 Small Form Factor is fitted with a 240-watt power supply (p/n: 702309-001 / 702457-001).
With your 240-watt power supply, you should take a look at these low-profile graphics cards, from cheapest/lowest performing to more expensive/higher graphics performance: GT 1030, RX 550, RX 560, GTX 1050, GTX 1050 Ti, GTX 1650, RX A2000.
Here are some examples:
GT 1030: https://www.techpowerup.com/gpu-specs/asus-gt-1030-silent-brk.b4635
RX 550: https://www.techpowerup.com/gpu-specs/msi-rx-550-low-profile-oc.b4711
RX 560: https://www.techpowerup.com/gpu-specs/msi-rx-560-low-profile-2-gb.b4823
GTX 1050: https://www.techpowerup.com/gpu-specs/gigabyte-gtx-1050-low-profile.b4816
GTX 1050 Ti: https://www.techpowerup.com/gpu-specs/msi-gtx-1050-ti-lp.b4033
GTX 1650: https://www.techpowerup.com/gpu-specs/asus-gtx-1650-low-profile.b7647
RTX A2000: https://www.techpowerup.com/gpu-specs/rtx-a2000.c3820
You can buy any of these cards new, or used via a trusted eBay seller -one who has sold many items and has a high customer approval rating and allows for return. Make sure that whatever card you buy is a low-profile model and that it comes with a low-profile GPU bracket, because you'll need that for installation in your SFF.
Hope this was helpful.
Kind Regards,

Without a shadow of a doubt that would be the RTX A2000, but it is also the most expensive.

What do you mean by 'what ddr do I need'? -If you are referring to the DDR RAM in a graphics card, that doesn't matter per se, though the higher DDR number (such as GDDR6) is faster than previous DDR memory (such as GDDR5).
I researched what the best place would be in the UK (Currys, CCLonline, Scan), which only have the RTX A2000 12GB version for sale, which you likely won't need, and is even more expensive (new, at least) than the 6GB version.
You can purchase a preowned RTX A2000 6GB via a reputable eBay-UK Seller, seen here: https://www.ebay.co.uk/sch/i.html?_from=R40&_nkw=rtx+a2000&_sacat=0&_sop=15&rt=nc&LH_BIN=1. If I was living in the UK and wanted an RTX A2000, that's where I'd be looking.
Here is an example of an HP ProDesk 400 G1 SFF fitted with an RTX A2000 graphics card: https://www.userbenchmark.com/UserRun/61402744.
