Hi, i have a hp envy h9 1040uk with the ipisb-ch2 (chicago) motherboard. Recently i bought  GTX 1050TI only to find out it doesn't work, so my question is, is there a bios flash or update available that makes them compatible?

The short answer is - No.  There is no BIOS update to allow the newer graphics cards to be compatible.

There are some manufactures that made a switchable card that could be usable for both UEFI and non-UEFI BIOS's but they are an older version card made when the UEFI was new.

If you desire one of the GTX 1050TI cards, then other than changing the motherboard, probably not going to find happy endings.

Ok thank you! i'll just replace the mobo and the case while i'm at it since the front panel connectors on the hp case probably won't work with the new mobo

the HP Pavilion H9104uk system is a rather new system and does support Legacy/UEFI in it's bios

https://support.hp.com/us-en/document/c03025269

hp lists the nvidi GTX 550 "TI" card as a video upgrade which draws 116 watts, and this card has a  Legacy/UEFI compatable bios

https://support.hp.com/us-en/document/c03025269

so the major question is can the HP power supply (600 watt)  support a nvidia 1050 or better card?

acording to the nvidia web site the 2GB 1050 card draws less watts (only 75) than the 550 card's 116 watts so it should work

https://www.geforce.com/hardware/desktop-gpus/geforce-gtx-1050/specifications

now looking at the 1050 "TI" model, we see it draws the same watts as the 1050 model listed above, so it also should work

https://www.geforce.com/hardware/desktop-gpus/geforce-gtx-1050-ti/specifications

i would open the side cover look at the installed power supply and confirm it is a 600 watt unit or at least a 400 watt

this site lists AMD/nVidia cards that have been tested and known working with this motherboard,  the 1000 series is not listed, and based on web searches may have a compatability issue with this motherboard/bios

http://www.pc-specs.com/mobo/HP/HP_IPISB-CH2_(Chicago)/1627/Compatible_GPUs

so to be safe, do not try to use the 1000 series or later models in this motherboard

In case you are just being sarcastic in you last post, the last link site that @DGroves posted does list the compatible graphics cards for that motherboard.
