Hi,
My oem graphics card died and replaced it with a new one. The MSI Radeon RX550. Now the problem is when i boot into the OS i get a black screen and it stays like that. On start up I see the Windows 10 logo but when it hit the logon screen it goes black. i get into Windows safe mode and i can do stuff but not in Windows 10 normal mode. I updated the bios to 80.24.
Is the card not compatible? If not which one should i purchase?
thx

Hello,
I wanted to tell you my problem is fixed. I had 2 issues with the graphics card. The original GPU wasn't broken. I used a faulty HDMI cable (I didn't know). The second problem is on the HP ENVY 700-209eb that I had to disable secure boot and enable Legacy boot in the BIOS prior the install of the new graphics card. I could not use the onboard graphics because the CPU doesn't support it.
Conclusion: You can use almost any GPU in this system. Just pay attention to the settings in the Bios and check the wattage on the psu so you are sure that you can draw enough power.
I found the bios settings here: https://support.hp.com/us-en/document/c03653200
