Hp pavilion 500-214
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

So I recently installed a gtx 960 graphic card to my hp pavilion 500-214 but for some odd reason the pc doesn’t even register it’s there I had my brother come by who’s built tons of PCs and worked on even more and he said the graphics card is gettin power since the fans are running but for some odd reason it just won’t show it’s there and that he couldn’t get the bios to update either anyone got any ideas on how to fix this?

@Rikushirran

One thing you need to fix first: the card requires system with 400W PSU

But your machine only has 300W PSU

You need more power for your machine. Please ask your experienced brother to install new PSU on your machine first.

Regards.

Hi, @Rikushirran

I see from the product specs for your PC, that it originally came with W8.1.

When you install a non-HP video card, or one that was not an option offered in your PC's model series, you have to go into the BIOS, enable legacy mode and disable secure boot.

See this link for more information...

The card also needs to have a supplemental 6-pin power connection.  See the specs below...
