HP ENVY h8-1414 Desktop PC
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I have an older h8-1414 running 64bit windows 10. This computer says from HP you can run 32 gb of ram with 64 bit (comes with 10gb) I have used crucial website and verified my ram. I have 4 - 8gb sticks. ( Crucial DDR3L 1600MHz PC3-12800 Desktop Memory UDIMM)My computer can see then and shows, but will not use it. The Bios as far as I can tell is locked and I cannot even try to access the ram. The only ram that is usable, is what came from the factory.

If the ram is seen/shown on windows/bios, why can't the system use it?  I have attempted to Google the issue but my Bios doesn't give me an option to get to the options everyone says o need.

Any help is appreciated iated. (I am a novice compared to you all)

@Nharp47,

Your HP ENVY H8-1414 Desktop PC according to: https://support.hp.com/us-en/document/c03353629, should be able to handle up to 4 x 8GB of DDR3L PC3-12800, 1600 MHz, Non-EEC, UDIMM, Unbuffered, 240-pin RAM.

Your Crucial 1600 MHz RAM, on paper at least, should indeed be fully compatible.

I would power down your desktop, remove all RAM sticks, and thoroughly clean your RAM slots with compressed (canned) air.

Then I would gently but firmly reinsert one RAM stick at a time.  Connect to power and restart your desktop.  Repeat until you have cycled through all four of the 8GB RAM sticks.  This is to eliminate the possibility of any faulty RAM stick.

Btw, according to: https://www.userbenchmark.com/System/HP-h8-1414/2775, the following RAM is capable to run at 1600 MHz:

Samsung M378B5173DB0-CK0
Hynix HMT41GU6BFR8C-PB
Micron 16KTF1G64AZ-1G6E1
Micron 8JTF51264AZ-1G6E1

Kind Regards,
