I want to buy a HP PRO MINI 400 G9 but it seems there is only 1 slot M.2 for NVME storage, it does not come with a bay so I could also fit a normal SSD or a 2.5 HDD, I spoke to HP now and the person said I can fit 2 M.2 NVME plus the normal LAN card, I believe this is incorrect, this photo  shows me clear that there is only one slot for NVME 11-04-2025-zptri.png

You are correct.

There is only one slot for a NVMe SSD.

You can see the circuitry for a second slot and the mounting standoff near the Wi-Fi card but you wouldn't be able to do anything to add a second NVMe SSD.

The higher end models have two slots such as the 600 G9 DM or 800 G9 DM.

All the person at HP needed to do was to read the specs for the model which indicate it only comes with one M.2 slot for storage.

See page 3.

Expansion slots:   1 M.2 2230; 1 M.2 2280 (1 M.2 slot for WLAN and 1 M.2 2280 slot for storage.)

The guy said he was sure there were 2 slots for storage. I could tell that there wasn't. But I know you can buy a bay/cage to  put an SSD. I spoke to the USA customer support and they knew all the right information.11-04-2025-s2y5b.png11-04-2025-2j056.png

I don’t understand why HP describes the number of storage slots the way they do. The documentation refers to expansion slots, which gives the impression that you can add extra storage. However, both slots are already occupied—one by the internal SSD and the other by the Wi-Fi module—so you can’t actually expand the storage. There's physically only room for one SSD, and that is the existing one.

Unfortunately, we fell into this trap. Extremely 😞

HP Documentation – HP Pro Mini 400 G9:

"Expansion slots: 1 M.2 2230; 1 M.2 2280 (1 M.2 slot for WLAN and 1 M.2 2280 slot for storage)."

OK, what if the PC only came with a 2.5" SATA SSD and no M.2 Wi-Fi adapter as some models do?

Wouldn't there be available slots for a M.2 SSD and a M.2 Wi-Fi adapter?  Of course there would be.

How come you're not complaining that if the PC already has a M.2 Wi-Fi adapter, that you can't add a second M.2 Wi-Fi adapter?

The bottom line is this...when you read the expansion slot specs for any HP desktop PC, you have to assume you are looking at a bare motherboard with no components added.
