Hi @MANIKANDAN2595,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
The issue you're experiencing with your HP 128GB pen drive disappearing after a minute on your system/TV but working fine with your Samsung phone via an OTG cable can be due to several factors. Here are some steps to diagnose and potentially fix the problem.
Check for File System Compatibility
Your pen drive might be formatted in a file system that your system or TV has trouble reading but your phone can handle.
- Windows prefers NTFS or exFAT.
- TVs often prefer FAT32 or exFAT.
- Android phones can read various formats, including FAT32, exFAT, and sometimes NTFS.
Test on Different Ports and Devices
- Try connecting your pen drive to different USB ports on your system/TV.
- Connect it to another computer or TV to see if the issue persists.
Update USB Drivers (for Computer)
If you're using a Windows computer:
- Right-click on the Start button and select Device Manager.
- Expand the Universal Serial Bus controllers section.
- Right-click on each USB driver and select Update driver.
- Restart your computer.
Check Power Settings (for Computer)
Sometimes USB ports are set to power down to save energy:
- Go to Control Panel > Power Options.
- Click on Change plan settings next to your current plan.
- Click on Change advanced power settings.
- Expand the USB settings > USB selective suspend setting.
- Disable the USB selective suspend setting.
Check for Disk Errors
- Connect the pen drive to your computer.
- Open File Explorer and find your pen drive.
- Right-click on the pen drive and select Properties.
- Go to the Tools tab and click Check under the Error checking section.

Reformat the Pen Drive
If the above steps don’t work, you may need to reformat the pen drive. WARNING: This will erase all data on the drive, so back up your data first.
- Connect the pen drive to your computer.
- Open File Explorer and right-click on the pen drive.
- Select Format.
- Choose exFAT (or FAT32 if you only have files smaller than 4GB) from the File system dropdown.
- Click Start.
Check for Firmware Updates (for TV)
Sometimes TVs need firmware updates to improve compatibility with external devices. Check the manufacturer’s website for any available updates and follow their instructions for installation.
Use a Different OTG Cable or Adapter
If you're using an OTG cable with your phone and it works, the cable might be helping to stabilize the connection. Try using a similar cable or adapter with your system/TV.
If none of these steps resolve the issue, the pen drive itself might have a hardware problem, especially if it works intermittently.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
