Ok first the desktop wouldn't boot up and  would beep spaztically until i replaced the power adapter with a genuine replacement, now it beeps 3 Long and 4 short beeps, everything I look up mentions this meaning gpu problems it's all in one and  only has the on board/ on chip intel graphics not the addon card from nvidia.  also the posts that google and it's gemini ai points me to is for a different all in one.  would this be one code for the same problem accross all hp all in one pc's?  it's only 580 for a newer all in one, why would I throw that or more in tracking down the  problem on this one?     i'm at 30 bucks now for the new power adapter.  I'd wait and see if it boots after 4-5 sets of beeping but it's loud and annoying while it beeps

Hi @Jewkesman,

Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for reaching out about your query regarding beep codes!

We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.

The 3 long beeps and 4 short beeps on HP All-in-One PCs generally indicate a graphics-related failure, even if your PC only has onboard Intel graphics. However, in All-in-One models, this often points to:

  1. Faulty RAM – Sometimes, GPU issues are related to RAM problems.
  2. BIOS Corruption – The system may not be detecting the onboard graphics properly.
  3. Motherboard/GPU Failure – If integrated graphics fail, the motherboard may need replacing.

Try these following steps:

Power Reset

  • Unplug the power adapter and hold the power button for 30 seconds.
  • Plug it back in and turn it on.

BIOS Recovery

  • If the system tries to boot but keeps beeping:
    • Power off the PC.
    • Hold Windows + B and then press the power button.
    • Keep holding Windows + B for 10-15 seconds until you hear beeps.
    • This forces the BIOS to recover.

External Display Test

  • Connect an external monitor via HDMI.
  • If it displays anything, the built-in screen may be the issue.

Reseat or Replace RAM (if comfortable)

  • Open the back panel, remove the RAM, and reinsert it securely.
  • If possible, test with a different RAM stick.

Let me know what you find. 😊

Finally had the house to myself so the extraordinarily loud  beeping wouldn't bug anyone else. after 4 or 5 iterations of the beep, the display lights up and is cracked on the left 3rd. I guess my cousin dropped it, when she re arranged the room while I was in the hospital. but since it didn't shatter  it looks intact  while off and not back lit.   new problem is even with external screen attached it only comes on far enough to show the post screen listing memory and memory speed and other devices including drives but then shuts down. and every start is a 4-5 iteration of  the beeps just to shut down again.  is there a way to make it ignore the damaged screen?  and use the  hdmi out to a tv or monitor  until i can afford a new screen?

ok shutting down after it loads  the HDMI it states unsupported adapter installed, does it mean its own  power brick or it's own wifi adapter in the wifi m.2/NFFG?  power adapter has  a barcode with CT:WBGTK03AU0R26S   AND A WHITE SQUARE WITH 1604798904.  this is one i ordered from  newegg.com to replace the  original  power adaptor  that was lost when moving. it worked for 3 months(long enough for the return window to expire) before the beeping   problem happened also don't know if the screen is the beep error or the power adaptor  but only other  adaptor  that could be installed is the wifi carrd

Hi @Jewkesman,

I appreciate the detailed update. Since the beeping pattern can indicate specific hardware issues, could you confirm the exact beep code sequence you're hearing? This will help narrow down the cause. Also, just to check, have you tried accessing the BIOS using the external monitor? Let me know, and I’ll be happy to assist further!😊

We're looking forward to helping you resolve this issue!

Stay tuned, and thanks for your patience!

Saddly, it indicates on the screen that an adaptor(power maybe?) Is not correct  and the system will shutdown to be safe and it does two seconds later. The beeps are as previously described  they play 5 times then the built in screen lights up showing the damage that can't be seen when it's not lit up.  Then the normal post displays on the external monitor  indicating the bios brand and version with memory size and device enumeration.  Then the line incorrect adaptor installed shutting down.

Hi @Jewkesman,

Thank you for the response.

It looks like the issue is stemming from either the power adapter or another internal component (possibly the Wi-Fi card or motherboard). Since the error explicitly states "incorrect adapter installed" and then forces a shutdown, the most likely culprit is the power adapter.

Try these steps:

Check the Power Adapter Model & Wattage

  • Your PC might not be recognizing the third-party replacement adapter properly.
  • Look at the required voltage/amperage (usually printed on the back of the PC or in the manual).
  • Ensure the replacement exactly matches HP’s official power adapter specifications.

BIOS Reset & Adapter Check

  • Try entering the BIOS Setup (press F10 at startup).
  • Check if there’s a power-related setting that can be adjusted.
  • If possible, reset BIOS settings to default and save.

Try Another Power Adapter

  • If you have access to another official HP power adapter (same specs), test it.
  • If the system boots normally, then the issue is definitely the adapter.

Force External Display Mode

  • Since the built-in screen is cracked, you might need to disable it completely.
  • Try pressing F4 (or Fn + F4) repeatedly during boot to force HDMI output.

If none of these work would you be open to testing another power adapter? That might confirm whether it’s the root cause!
