I have an HP 2509m Monitor that I've had for a few years - it's out of warranty and I'm curious if there's a fix for this issue or if it's not worth trying to fix.

The monitor comes on but only for a few seconds and goes to black. This happens with any connection (vga, hdmi, etc.). It happens with any device (macbook, chromecast, firestick)... so it seems like an issue with the monitor itself.

Anything I can try to fix this or is it toast?

Allisonwonderla -Your HP Pavilion 2509m LCD HD1080 wide-screen monitor was a nice monitor in its time but dated.  Perhaps Best Buy says it as well as I could: "This item is no longer available in new condition." -But I digress.

Chances are -having had the black-death screen experience more than a few times over the years, that your monitor is toast.

Replacing your monitor would be my recommendation.

When you say it comes on do you mean the power on light or do you see a raster?

Connect it and power up and listen for audio. Try shining  a flashlight about the edges of the monitor. If you see images mvoing or faint words then the problem is the backlight and that is normally an inexpensive transformer.

Monitors are about the only thing that has not gone up in price unlike video cards and CPUs.
