Microsoft Windows 11

On compact keyboards I have used in the past, there are shortcuts using the function key (fn) and the arrow keys to achieve Home, End, PgUp, PgDn emulation. These shortcuts are not working on the HP 350 keyboard I am using.

Can anyone tell me if it is possible to enable these shortcuts? I rely heavily on these functions in my computer usage.

Hi @Xenon47

Welcome to the HP Support Community! We're here to help you get back up and running.

Thanks for explaining that so clearly—it’s easy to see how important those shortcuts are to your workflow.  🧭⌨️

To enable the Home, End, Page Up, and Page Down functions on a compact keyboard like the HP 350, you may need to use the Function (Fn) key in combination with other keys. If the shortcuts are not working, here are some steps you can take to try and enable them:

Check the Keyboard Layout: Some compact keyboards have these functions mapped to alternative keys that require the use of the Fn key. Check if your keyboard has any markings on the arrow keys or nearby keys that indicate the presence of Home, End, PgUp, or PgDn functions.

Fn Key Lock: Some keyboards have an Fn key lock option, which toggles the need to hold the Fn key for secondary functions. Look for a key combination (often Fn + Esc) that may lock or unlock the function.

Keyboard Driver Update:

  • Go to Device Manager in Windows 11.
  • Expand the Keyboard section.
  • Right-click on your keyboard and select "Update driver."
  • Follow the prompts to ensure your keyboard driver is up-to-date.

HP Support Software: If your keyboard was configured with HP-specific software, ensure that it is installed and running. Sometimes custom software solutions from manufacturers control specific key functions.

Windows Keyboard Settings:

  • Go to Start > Settings > Ease of Access > Keyboard.
  • Check for any settings that enable additional keyboard shortcuts or alternative keypresses.

BIOS/UEFI Settings:

  • Some laptops allow changes to function key behavior directly in the BIOS/UEFI settings. Restart your computer and access the BIOS setup utility (typically by pressing Esc, F10, or F2 during startup), then look for an option that changes the Fn key behavior.

Thank you for your reply. Unfortunately I have been unable to resolve the issue. None of the keys are marked with Home, End, PgUp or PgDown. The normal combination of Fn key and arrows Up, Down, Left, Right do not work. Ihave not been able to find any other combinations that work. I have returned the keyboard for a refund!

HI - this is a shame about this otherwise excellent little keyboard.  I have had to use MS PowerToys and reprogramme keys for this to get PgUp PgDn etc.  It would be great, if say Fn+Left -> Home etc. and Fn+Up ->PgUp etc.

But I can't find any guidance on how to do this, or how to program it so it can.
