Microsoft Windows 11

Hi to all,

I am new to desktop pc space and just bought this model (you can see the exact specs at the bottom). I want to upgrade the system to Intel i9 13900k, Nvidia RTX 4090, Samsung 980 Pro SSD and DDR5 ram, but I could not find any information about the motherboard (I probably do not know where to look, so sorry about that).

According to system information of Windows the motherboard is HP 8917, version 00 (what?).

And I found a review in the net stating that the motherboard is HP 8917 Micro ATX Z690, but I am not sure if that is the exact same model as mine.

Does anyone know if the motherboard supports those parts that I want to upgrade to? Thanks in advance!

Welcome to the HP support community.

I understand that you want to upgrade the desktop, I am glad to assist you.

It is not advised to change the processor on the computer, because it is not tested with it.

However, you can try that at your own discretion.

I hope that helps.

If this helps, please mark the public post as an accepted solution so that it benefits several others.

If you had put you desktop's complete product name or its product number, it would have been simpler to help you.

Your motherboard, as you described it, does not physically accept DDR5 memory.

When logged into Windows, hold down the Windows key and tap the R key once.
That will open the Windows run dialogue

The motherboard is the HP BlizzardOC.
The document at the link will give you plenty of information on it.

The  Intel i9 13900k is not on the list of tested processors, so I wouldn't try it unless you can find a believable review where someone successfully used it and ran a benchtest .

Type in msinfo32 and press the enter key.

That will invoke the system information dialogue in a list.

The ninth line in the list is the System SKU which happens to also be the HP product number.

Kindly post it in your next reply in your thread.

The System SKU/Product ID will enable us to determine the hardware configuration of your notebook.
