My nearly new  HP 510 Wireless keyboard was working fine but then suddenly went dead. I have inserted new batteries into it (correctly), and my PC recognizes the wireless keyboard and wireless mouse as I have inserted the dongle into my PC.  The mouse works perfectly, but the keyboard doesn't do anything.  There is no on off switch on the keyboard (only on the mouse). I have removed the usb dongle and reinserted it into a different usb port. I have rebooted several times. Keyboard device shows on screen that it is working properly. What is the resolution?

Wow, I just figured out the solution! I'm posting here in case anyone else searches for it.

Make sure the "sticky keys" and "filter keys" settings were not accidentally enabled. Apparently it's not difficult to accidentally enable these without meaning to.

If you can't get past your Windows screensaver because you can’t enter your PIN (no keyboard) or because you can't use face recognition (security is requiring a PIN), look for a little icon of a man with outstretched arms in the lower right corner of your screen. That is the Accessibility symbol. Mouse to that and click on it and there you will find both of those settings (Sticky Keys and Filter Keys) and toggle to Disable both. Voila! My keyboard works again!

If you do not see the little man icon (Accessibility) and you are able to use Face Recognition to get past the PIN issue, you can try to mouse your way to settings>accessibility>keyboard to disable those settings.
