To get the answer to this question, the recovery media creation is limited and it can be created only once. if you've formatted or have done any changes to the operating system recovery media creation will fail. However, you can contact our support and our Support Engineers should be able to check the available service options for your laptop.

HP Support can be reached by clicking on the following link:

Thank you for posting on the HP Support Community.

I see you need help in upgrading the SSD, on HP Pavilion 590-p0086 Desktop. Don't worry as I have a few suggestions which should help you.

To get the answer to this question, You can use Samsung 970 SSD and also you can install a 256 GB or 512 GB  PCIe 3.0x4 NVME SSD.

After reading your post, I did go through the Product specifications of your product and found that you have 1 TB 7200 rpm SATA hard drive installed on the PC.

Hope this helps! Keep me posted for further assistance.

Hi Echo_Lake,

Thanks for the reply. Do you know any known issues upgrading the HP Optane drive with SSD. Some comment that hardware changes to HP Optane computers may not clone the SSD drives properly or may have problem with OS not installed properly etc. Any advice?

It's not recommended to use the slot for SSD, However, Optane Memory debuts as a caching drive that can—at times—make a hard drive competitive with even the fastest SSDs.

NOTE: HP does not recommend upgrading or downgrading hardware parts or software that is bundled with the product as It may affect the manufacturer's warranty and performance, however, you could change the configuration at your own discretion.

Hope this helps! Keep me posted for further assistance.

Hi Echo_Lake,

Thats fine I am aware of the warranty. I have a question about making a recovery thumb drive.

If I make two recovery thumb drives before uninstalling the Optane drive and after, what difference does it make? Recovery thumb drive made after uninstalling the Optane drive will copy a clean OS to the computer, without any issues, since recovery drive made in the absence of any hardware and software related to Optane drive,  am I right?

Did you find a way to upgrade the HD to M.2 Samsung?  I'm thinking about doing the same thing.
